Brake rotors & Pads- which Manufacturer do you use??

I'm told that I need to change the Front Rotors and pads on my '92 400e
and I notice that there are several manufacturers to choose from for each component. Vented Rotors or standard rotors from Brembo or, much more expensive OEM from the dealer.... Pads from Pagid or Textar.. Can one go very wrong with any of these?

I find what is OEM for your year/model and use that from the lowest cost provider as they may vary from year to year.

For aftermarket, the Brembo or Balo rotors are pretty good as well as the Textar pads. I would probably stay away from the aftermarket Ate pads or rotors.

I would suggest staying away from cross-drilled rotors, if that is what you were considering. I have had terrible results with them.

Lately I have been experimenting with ceramic pads on several vehicles, and I have been impressed so far.

I used ATE slotted rotors(ATE is an original manufature for Mercedes) and loved them along with pagid pads. No dust and they stopped well!

The Ate powerdisks are allright rotors if you do want to go that route. Ate is an OEM manufacturer for a lot of MB brake components such as calipers, master cylinders, etc, but is NOT an OEM manufacturer for pads or rotors. All the Ate pads and rotors are aftermarket and I am have not been terribly impressed with the quality of some of their parts. Your results may vary according to model.

If you check the mailorder or phone order Mercedes dealers, you'll find genuine parts as cheap as any.

now, many OE suppliers are changed using TRW pads (Lucas).

TRW pads are much better than Pagid and Tartex. At least, not easy getting squeaking sounds...

Any opinions on Bendix non-metallic pads?

All the front discs should be vented (the rears are solid), cross-drilled is another matter, and not the way it came it from the factory. Balo and Brembo seem to get good marks for OEM disc brands, I personally like the Textar OEM the best. Textar is what comes in the Mercedes Benz box from my dealer. I think Pagids are more likely to squeak a bit, but are otherwise a good brand too.
