First post with question...

Greetings to all!
I am new to Mercedes with a 1988 260e. I purchased this car about a month ago using only my knowledge of domestic and Japanese cars to make a buying decision. Silly me! LOL..

After sorting through many issues with the help of the "Tech Info" and searching these forums, I have an issue that I cant seem to figure out a search term for.

If I crank the car and do not bring it up to operating temp, it will leak coolant from the drivers side of the engine behind the accesories (wp, Sp, etc.). I cant get in there to really see anything.

The funny thing is all I have to do is go for a drive and it will stop leaking. Not to leak again until I crank it for just a minute. Like to back the car out of the garage.

I did just complete a Head gasket job. The car did this before and I replaced the water pump "O" rings and hose while I was there. I saw no indications the pump itself was leaking.

Any Ideas?
Thanks

Mainly a guess slightly educated by years of working on cars: I think it's probably the water pump.

Thanks for the reply Skippy!

You are problably right as the only water feature on that side is the pump.

The water drips from behind the air compressor bracket. I can see no water from the top or as much of the front or rear of the pump as I can see with my mirror.

I will get one on order.

Two for the water pump weeping to reflect wear factor. Betcha a Nickel - that's it.
