97 C230K Hydraulic Clutch Problems ... (W202)

Hi All

I'v just had the Clutch slave replaced by a mechanic. Brake fluid level is correct and there is not noticeable leaks of fluid.

I had some very strange behaviour at a stop street. The car was in first with the clutch pedal "In". It felt like the car started creeping a bit and then the engine cut out. When I let the clutch pedal go it seemed reluctant to go back to the top (pedal "out" position) and when I pumped it seemed to to have very little resistance, and next thing it was back to normal.

I checked the fluid levels and leaks and it all looks good. I have very little experience with hydraulic clutches but from my understanding it is a very simple mechanism. Can anybody please explain what happened here. I have subsequently operated the clutch continuosly (up and down) for up to 15 minutes and have not had this behaviour occur where the clutch pedal seems to go dead.

Would some air in the system explain it ?? As it is possible that the air got displaced by fluid after pedal operation which caused the system to correct itself.
