77 280 sl warm up
hi i am working on a 1977 280 sl it starts ok but dies if you even touch the throttle untill is has run for about 15 min. someone has suggested it may be the warm up regulator. how can i check to find out without replacing it if that isnt the problem , as it is an expensive part?
thanks... jack |

The CIS fuel systems operate by having a system pressure that works against the CONTROL pressure. Durning warm-up the control pressure is LOW & that allows for a richer mixture.
YOU would need a very good set of fuel pressure gauges to test that system. The warm-up regulator is how the CONTROL pressure is changed.

The only REAL way to check the warm-up reg is to connect the fuel gauge between the fuel distributor & warm-up regulator.
