Hi
I have changed my transmission oil on my 84 300D and I am confused about adjusting the level and I want the detailed procedure to do that like is it measured when cold or hot, before driving or after driving and if after driving how long should I wait, thanks for your help. |
Car at idle for 2 minutes, on level ground, in Park. If just warm, ATF @ 86 degrees F = 0.2 inches BELOW minimum mark. If hot after a good run, ATF @176 degrees F, it should meet the full mark. Don't overfill!!!

Hi Ron
so should I measure it right away after stopping or do I have to wait like engine oil, thanks. |
Aymn,
Checking ATF level is done with the car in Park and the engine running at idle. Waiting isn't necessary. One waits to check the engine oil after shutting down the engine so as to allow the oil to flow from the top of the engine down to the oil pan by our good freind gravity.
