How to: 190E fuel injector replacement

I replaced the injectors on my 1992 190E today, and made a website documenting how it was done:

Mike,

That looks like a good write-up. Why not post it on this site's wiki?

cheers,

When I replaced ours, I noticed no significant difference - despite a home-brew testing apparatus I used that seemed to indicate some had a faulty spray pattern. Much, much later, we did have a problem (running on 3 cyl) that I narrowed down to one of the new injectors haveing failed - probably clogged. I still had the old ones, so it made that diagnosis much easier, and it's still running fine a year later with one old injector.

Since the injectors a relatively cheap for this model (here, at least), it pays to have a couple spares on hand.

Regarding the results from putting in the new injectors, I would say there has not been a tremendous difference, but the idle is smoother now if I watch the tach needle at a red light for example. It's much more steady. I don't think my old injectors were all that bad, but I just feel better putting in fresh ones now that the car has 140,000 miles.
