ATF Cooler Lines 95 W124 E420 flow direction

Which side of the radiator does the ATF enter and leave from on the 1995 E420?

There is a banjo fitting on the driver's right side, and a flare fitting on the left - which fitting does the ATF enter the radiator from? If I'm going to open the line to drain the fluid, I'd like to open the return line, not the outbound one. That will push the old fluid out of the cooler.

I'm planning an ATF fluid change, and the E420 requires removal of the exhaust crossover pipe to expose the opening below the torque converter drain plug. The exhaust pipe joint is heavily corroded but it's not leaking, so I'd prefer to leave it alone for now.

Thanks!
JJ
