Does anyone know where I can check the "Book" labor rates against what my local auto care professional is proposing?
Do the following times seem reasonable??
Hours Task
3_____replace timing chain, roll on new w/master link
1_____replace tensioner
2.7___replace lower ball joints
1.5___replace idler arm
1_____replace center link
2_____replace both front shocks

Thanks
Jim

I don't know where you could get a book that would give you times, but those sound pretty resonable to me.

While I don't have it in writing I have done those jobs many times in the past. The rates are not out of line. The easiest way to check on the rates would be to call another shop. Labor times are not made available to the general public that I'm aware of.

It seems that the rates you quoted are well within reason. I also do not have any published figures, but have a VERY good friend who knows time/job rates. These are within reason, if not on the low side.

I m not 100% sure about the spelling but "Childens" repair manual has the labor times. Some extended warrentys use those numbers.
