124 Exterior Door Handle Swap

I know this has been discussed somewhere before but my searches have turned up little info.

Are the late model chrome/black 124 exterior door handles interchangable with the earlier type? Can you swap old lock tumblers into new lock piece?

I couldn't find any threads or info on this. If anyone knows about this or has a link, I would greatly appreciate it.
