G-Wagen horn question

I have a WDB463, 300GEL, right hand drive. Horn / hooter has failed. Fuse is OK. Continuity at steering column is OK. But......embarsssingly.....can't find the actual horn unit. Had the bull bar and front grill off. Nothing there... I've lost all credability with my kids. I just want to test the actual unit. Can anyone help?? Thanks. Alastair.

No idea where the horns are hidden on a G-wagon, but look for two flat round items, 'bout the size of the tea cup saucer. Most MB's have them mounted to the aux fan bracket, or just in front of the radiator if no aux fan installed. Should be easy to spot, they should also have a series of openings aound the face of the unit.

G-Wagen horn question continued......

Thanks Mike,
Yes, that's what I expected as on my 190E and old 280TE but not there. Took bull-bar and front grill off this morning - only the electric radiator fans are there and air-conditioning radiator. Been looking again since lunch - maybe fallen off?? - If someone can say where, I'll look for two loose wires - at least I'll know what the problem is. Alastair.

Perhaps someone in the "ML, G-wagon & Unimog" forum will be able to point you in the right spot. There are a few G-wagon owners here at The Shop, but they don't always hit the tech forum.

Thanks for that Mike. I've got it in the M, G & Unimog forum too. 16 had looked this morning, but still no answer....
