Hi,

Like to find out a little bit more on the Tail Shaft Coupling? Where is it located & what it look like? Is it expensive to change?

Is it a rubber component?

there is one at each end of the shaft. Looks like a rubber donut with 6 holes.

The transmission end is prone to breakdown after a few years and should be replaced when it shows sign of deterioration.

The differential end typically lasts longer.

The part is around $75, labor of about 1 - 2 hr. depending on which end.

What'll happend if this part is not replace, coz I dont notice any difference at this stage? Should all the rubber parts be replaced, done at once?

Depends on age and wear of the disks. Inspection is best to make the decision.

If the original disks and over 10+ years, consideration to replace should be given as for all old rubber components.

The front flex is subject to greater heat and flex than the rear so is more likely to fail.

The consensus seems to be that the disks can be replaced independently unless you are going to remove the entire tail shaft to renew the support bearing in which case both disks should be replaced to save labor.

Yes my car is now 11 yrs old, the shop just rang me said only replace fron end, he said back end is fine?

Is this OK for AU$330 work?

Whats the effect of not replacing this part? Is there a noise in transmission or...?
