W211 brakes
Is there a safe way to replace pads and rotors on 2003 E320 without turning off the SBC unit. I like my fingers.

I have very limited knowledge on the W211. But afaik no. I'd WAG you could just un hook the battery, but I wouldn't bet my fingers on it. Although all the computers on those cars probably wouldn't like that.

Unfortunately, I don't think that simply unhooking the battery will do it. There are 2 batteries and there will probably still be residual pressure in the reservoir. Don't know if anyone has found a safe way to do it without the appropriate software, but I haven't heard of anything.

Don't do it. You need the equipment.

There is a procedure from the Bentley website
I downloaded it once before I realized it was only for the W211. It's 700KB, so I can't attach it.
I found it from a forum. If it wasn't this one, it was through mbworld.org or benzworld.org |

The system needs to go to sleep....or be TURNED off with scanner..
Send me a PM & I will suggest the procedure.

I think there is a small tool you can plug in underneath the steering wheel.
It is made by ATE and it is called SBS. Here is the pdf: http://www.ate.fotocentrum.de/ATE_DownloadPDF/136445.pdf I think it costs like 200 dollars. Proceed at your own risk, though. |
