suspension problems. picture included

OH boy when it rains it pours. went to get the car inspected to register came up with a bunch of stuff wrong with it. need to replace windshield, already replaced a brake hose, some exaust work, then tinkered with a wire for the high beams. As i was driving to the glass shop my rear tire blew out, so i then swapped a spare on, and the spare didn't have air in it (last time i check it did).

anyways got all the fixed. was driving around at night and heard something bounced underneath the car. i thought it was a rock i hit, but then the front end was acting kinda weird. well let the picture do the talking:

whats the part called that i am missing there? is this expensive to fix? I might end up selling the car for parts since i was offered another car. this is on a 84 300SD W126. thanks for any help, ironically today is my birthday but i been having bad luck all day.

scary thought but perhaps your bd actually gave you good luck!

That is the front sway bar. Replacing it is pretty straight forward but it is tedious.

a bolt and not a nut? if it is a nut then the bolt part broke off, but if it is a bolt then maybe it just worked itself loose.

I will have to see tomorrow and hopefully that is how it works. thanks again for the advice

thank u for the info. it is definetily a bolt. however is the part corroded/rusted at all? i am asking because this guy:

Swaybar repair pictoral, 300SD

the end looks like my end. as i do not have a picture of a good one to compare it i dunno if the end is still good or not.

i suppose i can go take the other side off and compare. hopefully it works out. will keep posted.
