W124--what is this part?

I was moving the XM and the iPod modules for my Alpine HU.

I came across this part on the right front passenger footwell of my 1989 300TE.

The first picture shows a w/a shot of the footwell area. The part in question is at the bottom, righthand side of the picture.

The second picture shows a c/u of the actual part that I would like to identify.

It has a Becker brand name on it and a Benz parts number.
