Nissan vs. Behr Radiator

Anyone have experience using Nissan radiator vs. a Behr.

Price difference was substantial, and I was told that quality was equal.

This would be going into a 16V 190E

Thanks,

Bob

Due to a small accident with a truck's hitch, we had to replace the radiator in my wife's TD. I went with a Nissen (made in Demark) radiator. That was last year, have had not problems since.

Nissen is very good quality - some think higher than Behr South Africa.

Behr is the OE radiator so they must be pretty good. Do the Nissens have the metal sleeves in the necks?

If I were planning on keeping the car I would buy the Behr.

How much are the BEHR and Nissen radiators for your car? Could this be another option? Click on the following link and then Catalog and then Radiators. :

I can't find it right now, but I read that the Nissens radiators have metal tanks. If that is the case, they don't need metal sleeves in the necks. I would certainly opt for metal tanks if that is an option.

The Nissen was $185 locally. The Behr was $250 locally, $155 on ebay (buy it now) with a $25 shipping fee. The price for the Behr at the dealer is $450.

The parts side of this website had the Behr at $330 I think.

That link for the Evans product - I didn't see a radiator for less than $250, though it was not easy to navigate.

There seems to be a quality difference between Behr Germany and Behr South Africa - both of which are available on the aftermarket.

The lowest price I saw was $225 on the Evan's site. I never owned a Evan's radiator, but I know that my oem Mercedes failed in 2 of my cars, one because of a broken neck and that was a BEHR. I do remember that Mercedes oem BEHR has an updated part number for their rads. I know this because I saw one for sale on Ebay and called the dealer to verify the part number and the number of the rad for sale was superceded by a new part number.

Nissan

I just put in a Nissan and no problems. The Behr at the dealer was $550. The nissan was $225. It is a Denmark high quality radiator. Behr is getting ready to start making theirs in CHINA.
