H9DC and H9DCO spark plugs Discontinued
Hello all,
In my endless search for the non-resistor type plugs I eventually found some. But not before calling Bosch themselves. The guy on the phone told me they don't make the above plugs anymore. So after everyone uses what ever is left in the market, then NO more. So stock up! I got mine at a very good price. I did get extra for the future. Joseph |

Wasn't this topic brought up before in another thread? Maybe Phil can chime in, but I thought the discontinued plugs was just a false rumor?
Who exactly did you talk to "at Bosch?"

Yeah.....I find this a tad bit hard to believe. A kazillion motors use this plug number. If it's so, what's the replacement number?

Well, I just became a believer. After reading the lead-in post, I went to the following WEB site:
http://www.boschautoparts.com/Global/Contact then called the phone number there -> 888-715-3616. Opened an issue and mins. later, a Bosch employee called me. According to him H9DC & H9DCO have been discontinued. They have BOTH been replaced by --> HR9DC stock # 7578. If you want to continue using the discontinued plugs, you'll need to run to your local retailer and buy up whatever stock they have. Once they're gone, they're gone.

My owners manual calls out both a Bosch and a Beru part number for the spark plugs. The Beru plugs are not being discontinued. My local dealer uses Berus.

Remember the HR9DCs are the resistor types and not the "Non-resistor." There was a cross reference site that I posted. But after looking at the cross reference chart and other cross reference chart some brands are a generic brand that crosses with many other bosch plugs. Joseph |

I’m using more Beru parts. I used Beru glow plugs on the diesel. Bosch quality has become somewhat hit or miss. I was planning on using Beru spark plugs when the time came anyway.

Alternatives?
Eventually we will run out of non-resistor plugs even if we stock-up on it.
Is it possible or has anybody tried a combination of non-resistor cables with the HR9DC plugs? |

Bah!
If you find a cheap source for the Bosch's to stock up on, please let me know the source! |

You can find info about the Beru spark plugs suited to your vehicle at:
http://www.beru.com/english/ I have had no success locating a source for their parts in my community. At the WEB site above I posed such a question and learned the following: Beru Corp. - USA Morton Grove, Ill. 847-470-1739 Was also told the best bet for a source in the U. S was at: Kingsbourne Wire Werks, California 800-673-0375 www.kingsborne.com

Isn't the connection from rotor to plug to ground only a series circuit?
If so it's just a matter of tranferring the resistance from the cable to the plug. We still maintain the total circuit resistance ergo have the same spark at the tip. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

I just spoke over the phone with Warren Hartley - owner of kingsborne.com.
He's shipping me a set of Beru single electrode plugs for my M103 motor. Part # is -> 14 K-7 DUO (Z18) According to Warren, he's the largest importer of Beru parts in the U. S. If Bosch is out of the "non-resistor" game, I'll simply use Beru's from now on. I've read a lot of favorable comments about them here and on other forums.
