aluminum versus copper

i always thought that aluminum was first used in the 140 series. and i told my mechanic that...caused a great pause.

but my mechanic has pulled the evaporator from my 1986 126 and it is all aluminum. almost 20 years and 253,000 miles and finally this component has failed.

my mechanic thinks that oe was all aluminum. i don't think so. retro part is copper and aluminum.

an improvement?

would the benz dealer have substitued all aluminum for a component that i think to have been al-cu?

all ears,

i think the aluminum started with the 123 bodies at least. maybe the 115 but the 123 for sure.
