Question 380sel A/C maintenance

Hello Forum,

I have an '82 380sel and the a/c works just ok, but would like to improve it for this Tx heat. I just bought it and I dont see any notation about conversion from r-12 to r-134a or anything. The fittings are small and look original, but I'm not for sure what the fitting for r-134a look like either. What a/c maintenance should i perform in order to improve the coldness of the air?

Also, on occasion the blower will shut off (you can still hear compressor cycle) and if you push the def. button it kicks the blower on high, but does not function for the other buttuons once it shuts off. Then after waiting a short while, you can hear a slight to moderate click come from the right side under the dash/glove box area and then the blower will work for the other (a/c)buttons. After searching on the forum, I found a post about the unit that is under there and may have a loose connection or something. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I will have time this weekend or next to check it out and see if I can find it.

Lastly my 380sel has only one big aux. fan in front, should it kick on automaticly when I use the a/c? Currently, it does not(could be sign of low pressure in a/c system if it is supposed to kick on w/ a/c). It will kick in only when the temp reachs about 90C.

Thanks in advance to any contributions,
Bobby
