Which brand spark plug wire M119 E420

I'm getting ready to replace my plug wires. I looked through the EPS, and it only lists parts to make the wires. Fastlane has Bosch and Beru. Has anyone personally installed either of these, or some they bought from the dealer? How did they fit? Were the lenghths correct? Did they have the little markers on them for the cylinder number?

Thanks,
Bob

I recently put Kingsborne wires on my 400E. It's sounds like an offbrand but all the fittings are made by Beru which is OEM. They are made in California. Workmanship was excellent, lengths all perfect, wires numbered, etc. As I recall price was a little lower but not a lot. I think a search for Kingsborne would find them. I believe they sell direct and also through dealers.

I put Beru in a previous 88 BMW and ran them for 150,000 miles (4 years). I also put Berus in the 300E. Fitment was fine, but you will have to match them against your old wires to determine which goes where. The lengths will not be identical. It is not too difficult to determine which goes where, though.

The M119 motor is a litttle more difficult to install wires on due to the extensive series of channels and guides, etc, as compared to the 6 cyl cars, hence my concern about the lenghths. About 80,000 miles ago, I installed an aftermarket set obtained from Performance Products, and the lenghths were just wrong enough to make the install a pain. Anybody installed Beru or Bosch from Fastlane on a M119?

Bob

Here's a tip on installing spark plug wires on a 119 - throw away all the little channels, it's the silliest stuff, and let the wire lay whereever they wish. It turns a four hour job into about 30 minutes.

But all those channels make everything look soooo pretty ;-)

Anyway, I went ahead and ordered the Kingsborne- at $152 it's a bargain- they seem to use quality wire and Beru hardware, so we'll see. I will let you know how it goes. (Thank you deanyel)

Wow! I haven't bought MB wires ... always had diesels.

When I last bought wires for a Ford Explorer, seems like they were about $40 or so ... I would really appreciate a summary from someone on why there is such a huge difference ..

Looks like versions from Fastlane are in the $300 plus range? Wow!

Thanks!

I installed the Bosch set last week on my 500E. Lengths were good, and the quality was top notch. I paid $159.96 from ******** Arizona. They have the overall lowest prices of anyone I have found on all Mercedes parts.

Spark plug wire install...M119

I install a new set of Beru spark plug wires. Take my advice and stick with German parts if possible.

No Kidding, stick with OEM German parts. I installed a set of Bosch wires on my E12 and ended up selling it for scrap because it stopped running after about 6 months. This was in 1991 before I knew better.

My MB came with Beru wires. Last year I decided to replace them and ordered another set of Beru's. The orig. wires were metal. To my suprprise and disappointment, the replacement Beru wires sold on all of the web parts sites are no longer metal. The ends look the same, but the long stretch of wire is no longer metal as the factory equipped Beru's were.

The Kingsborne site above will sell you metal Beru's. I know of no other place to get them. Maybe someone else does.
