Unhappy oil & transmission leak

This is bazzar only because of the millage 037313 and the fact that no leaks accured till I replaced engine oil with REDLINE 10W40 and had the transmission filter and fluid changed also REDLINE D4ATF.
I checked the fluid levels warm for the transmission and they are in line or spec to not being over filled engine oil the same to spec. Car runs like a bad out of Well you now. But the frustrating part every morning is stearing at the small leak on the ground floor.
I did the oil change and though perhaps the filter did not seat well,I though I would wait till 500 miles to change it again and see what happens.
Previously I was usung Mobile 10W30 no leaks with factory oil filter. the transmission had no leaks what so ever and must of had the stock fluid .

Is there some thing I am over looking that I can check. I made an appointment to bring the 300-E back to my mechanic to check the transmission pan bolts.
Its just a small leak but enought to agravate me. What can I do?

I am in a similar sitaution that you are in. I have a 420sel with on 57k miles. Prior to that, no leaks in my teanny at all. When I did the tranny fluid and filter change, about 1000 miles later I started to see small tranny oil leaks in my garage. I had thought that the bolts to the tranny pan were loose but indeed not. My mech told me that there are some seals in the tranny causing the leak. Its not major and was told that if I wanted to fix it, the tranny would have to be opened up and sort of rebuilt which I dont want to do right now. My mech just told me to keep adding oil and until it gets real worse then its time to open the tranny up.

In both cases above, I think you've got to determine first where the leak is actually coming from. To do that, everything needs to be cleaned off so that you can see the fresh leak on clean parts. I find it hard to believe that the seals on the 420SEL magically started leaking after the transmission was serviced. It either was leaking before and you didn't notice it or it is leaking from an improperly torqued pan. On the E class above, are you leaking engine oil, ATF or both?

This problem comes up on other cars

I did a tranny filter change and flush a few days ago on my Ford and had leaks from the gasket. Wound up replacing the gasket and it still leaked a little but now is down to a drop or two a day.

I think it takes time for the heating and cooling cycles to gradually shift the seating of the gasket of any car's oil/transmission fluid pan to where that last point of leakage is sealed.

It would be a good idea to have your mechanic (or yourself) check the bolts with a torque wrench to make sure there hasn't been loosening or a missed bolt in the tightening sequence. I'm assuming they tighten every other bolt incrementally until the final torque is reached?

Oh, and is the leaking fluid motor oil or ATF?
