w210 A/C

I am currently in the market for a 2000-2002 w210 wagon to replace our current 88TE (If you know of a good vehicle in the S.E. le me know). I have researched most of the issues with this model but have one question. Is the A/C system adequate for the extra interior space on the wagon? Does the rear venting system bing enough air to the rear of the vehicle? Has MB rectified the evaporator issue prevelent in the 124 series? Living in Charleston SC, an efficient A/C system is a must. The A/C system on the 124wagon is marginal at best even with a new evaporator. It takes forever to cool down the car after it sits in the sun on a 90+ degree day.

Thanks,

Ed C.

I just changed the carbon cabin filter on my W210 saloon, and it made a huge difference to airflow.

It was roasting hot today, but the car was unbelieveably cold. I'd suggest the AC is more than capable.

We have a 2002 w210 wagon and love it. However, it should be noted that A/C coming out of the rear vents is very weak. I checked MB forums and it appears to be normal and a design fault. ML class has this problem as well. I had it checked out while under warranty and they just replaced the blower motor regulator. It seems to have fix it somewhat, but air is still weak. No where near as powerful as even the 3rd row seating in our Toyota Seqouia SUV. One poster in another forum said the problem is very small tubing in the center console for the air flow to reach the special vent in the arm rest and rear vents.

On the bright side, front A/C fans and vents more then adequately reach the rear passengers. I would not have even bothered taking it in for the issue if it wasn't under warranty.
