A/C question
I own a 300TE. The automatic A/C control does not seem to be sucking air through the overhead console inlet.
I did the usual test, put a piece of tissue paper to see if it was sucked up. The tissue paper fell down. :( I then opened up the glove compartment to check the aspirator fan. The aspirator fan is working well. It has suction. I checked the rubber hoses in the glove compartment area and they are all in good shape and the fit is tight. So, why is there no suction at the overhead console inlet? :( Any suggestions? Thanks. |
Bump....

Have you pulled the dome light assy and made sure the hose is attached at the sensor/grill?

I'm afraid that the hose may be damaged somewhere along the line.. :( How are thigns in cool SM? Lots of tourists for the 4th? |
Do you have one of those air filters ....like activated charcoal ? Could it be in that part of the system and clogged up ?

BENZ-LGB,
Actually, It's been fairly quiet here today, so far. Ran some errands after church, and traffic was light. Gotta be a hose loose (or plugged) between aspirator motor and sensor. Motor definately has suction? Not a loose impeller on the motor shaft? My hose in the "A" pillar is fairly stout rubber, but maybe with the heat here recently, yours has collapsed? |

When I removed the overhead console I cleared some dust from the sensor and checked the hose. What I think mya have happened is that when I had a cell phone kit, the installer ran the wire from the cellkit unit under the front passenger carpet area, up the right hand A pillar and then to a point right under the rearview mirror, where the mike for the cellphone was instaled. I have a sneaking suspicion that int he process the hose was either pinched or "poked" or something. Do you know how to remove the A pillar cover to check the hose? I think that's where the problem may be... Enjoy the nice beach weather. |

On the 126 it's job # 68-405. I've got a PDF file, but it's too big for the forum attachment limit and the forum email doesn't allow attachments.
Basically you remove/loosen the felt-like windlace in the A pillar area and use a plastic/wood wedge to tap under the A pillar molding, in an upward direction to release two clips that point down. The clips are about 1/3 the distance from the top and 1/3 from the bottom. |
