Question Consol pannel removal W140

I have a 1992 400 SE. I need to remove the console wood pannel to get at the switches. I see there are two phillps screws in the ash tray compartment and two torques as well. My problem is I can't see how to get the ash tray out.

Thanks for your help.

M

Here goes, remove the metal ash tray, look at the back of the ash tray housing cover ( phillips) loosen but dont remove, and side cover up and out. you will find two phillips staight down, but you will also find two torx at right angles, loosen and remove. The next step is to pull up on the shifter trim, friction fit, the panel should come up. there arte elecctrial connectors. If you want to go further the phillips at the bottom and the two screws in the radio cavity need to come out, radio out (code) and the panel pivots up.
