380sl mystery oil leak

After crawling around under my mb I still cannot find an oil leak. The leak seem to be above the oil pan as high as the back of the power steering pump. I checked the valve cover gasket and it appears to be dry. Maybe somebody out there has had the same problem and can help me out. This definately an oil leak and not power steering fluid. Also if it is the oil pan gasket do I have to pull the engine to change it?
