560 SEL- Please help with Wheel Issue- Control Arm W126 - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Hi There,
I have an 1988 W126 560SEL. I do not know much about cars at all. The metal piece that is in front of my right rear tire has fallen and I cant figure out which parts I need to fix it. I will be able to find someone to fix it, but now I just need to know which parts I need to get it running right again so I can sell it. Here are some pictures to help out. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there

I cant really tell what exactly has gone wrong here... whether the bolt holding the assembely to the underbody has sheared or if the underbody itself was rusty causing the hole lot to come off.

Maybe someone with a little more experience can advise if this is a common fault.

The pictures are way to close. Step back and give us an overview shot.

Looks like one of the subframe mounts gave way, probably rust related. Judging from your post I'd have it flat beded to a shop, they will know what parts to order and be able to fix it. With the subframe hanging down driving it it out of the queston, towing is probably as well. Unless its rusted real badly, in that case it might not be fixable for a sane amount of money.

What does the rest of the car look like? Perhaps one of us would be interested in purchasing this car as is if your trying to sell it.

Thanks for the replies. I was told that the metal arm was not rusted. The pieces to connect it back on were all that was needed. My mech wants to inflate the prices of these parts and wont give us the proper names of them to prevent us ordering them ourselves. Whew, long sentence I know.

About the car...
it is an 88 560SEL. Needs front ball joints changed, I have them in the trunk. It also needs the last part of the muffler pipe, some freon, and afew minor surface rust spots. It has 187k on the clock. It is white and the sunroof works. Interior is blue with some dashboard cracks. Rear seat needs a cable for drivers side to slide 9I took a look at it, never got the part yet. Heated seats are working. Has new alternator, battery, starter coil (in trunk), and new ECM. Also have bosch Euro headlights, and motors in my closet, also the little metal bits that go under too, and one euro wiper arm. Have Eur spec Thermometer, and first aid kit. Has some service records. Was a massachussets car in the past. Any reasonable offers taken. I would actually like to trade it for something in good running shape that is dependable.

Your mech needs to send his kids to college and needs to make a few bucks on the parts.

Give or take, plus those metal parts. I'd say rough cut $300 in parts.
