2.3 oil pan

can the oil pan be removed without pulling the engine on a 91 190e 2.3?

You will need to disconnect the drag link from one side. If you have some 1x4 wood around the house cut several 4" long blocks. When you jack the engine up simply place the blocks under the mounts and you will be able to work safely at Removing and Reinstalling your oil pan. If you can double up the blocks under the mounts by all means do so. If your mounts are really flat 2 blocks will easily slip under the mounts. The crank may need to be rotated in order to clear the rear counterweight. Do not get over zealous at removing the pan, it takes a certain twist to get it to come out. Be extra careful not to damage your new oil pan gasket when you slip the pan back in place.

oil pan

not only will you have to take the mounts completely loose you must also remove fan shroud or break the fan blade.also look and see what other cables and hoses need to be loosened or removed to prevent obvious problems later.you are going to be moving engine up about 4 inches so pay attention to what else might screw up by stretching it. david poole european performance dallas tx.
