Will a rear axle from a '93 300E fit a '86 300E?

Will a rear axle from a '93 300E fit a '86 300E? There is an ebay listing saying it will, but I am hesitant before asking you guys. Let me know. thanks. -Joe

I thought the differential ratio was changed when MB decided to go with the 1st gear start....

There was a modification at the flange where it attaches to the Differential flange. The old style can be subbed for the new, but the new won't work with the old.

I put an older axle on my '92 and it worked fine.

I don't know the year of the change, but you could figure it out from the
part nos on the World Pac sellers sites.
