Auto trans band adjust on '77 240D
I want to adjust the bands on my 240D. Does anyone have the specs and where it is adjusted?

auto trans band adjustment?
Hmm, hate to bear bad news, but this is an MB and there really isn't an adjustment for the bands like older american cars. I've owned and serviced numerous of these little beasts and poor shifiting is par for the course.
Here are my favorite reference links for MB transmission stuff. Enjoy. Wayne Hyde JAGGI Import Export in Missouri City, Texas. Actually there is one band that can be adjusted on the 722.117 or .118, (you should have one of those on a 1977 240D) and that is the reverse band. There is an external bolt (break-off style) for tightening up the reverse if you're experiencing a delayed engagement of say 3+ seconds. Transmission problem

rwhyde, thanks for the links but my trans is pre-historic and doesn't use vacuum. It has a throttle pressure rod and thats it.
Mine goes into reverse ok, I just want to firm it up some.

722.0 early diesel transmissions have a pre- set mechanical modulating valve, passenger side rear tail sections, where the vacuum modulator would normally be, remove the external screw and turn the internal screw CW to increase working pressure.
The reverse band is the only one that can be externally adjusted. |
