1978 450 SEL Auxiliary Fan Switch

OK, so I've been reading relentlessly all of the posts concerning problems with auxiliary fans. I seem to have a problem with mine, and after reading all of the posts, I still have questions.

First, the obvious. I can jumper from the battery to the fan wires and the fan runs. Fan must be good.

1) Engine temp comes up as high as 215 degrees F. All of the posts speak in Celcius. Is 215 F too hot? It seems to be, given that this temp only occurs on hot days at a stop light. Sitting in my driveway running on a hot day, the auxiliary fan never comes on and the temp reachs the 215 F mark.

2)I found the single pole temp switch where the collant water goes into the top of the motor, and if I remove that wire and jumper it to ground, the auxiliary fan comes on!!! Does that mean this switch is bad? Again, all posts speak about two pole temp switches. This temp switch has only one pole.

3)I have not even gotten to the A/C temp switch. I assume I can umper it and the auxiliary fan should come on? Which two wires is this switch. There are two for pressure and two for temperature as I understand.

Auxiliary Fan Switch Continued..

So I looked up auxiliary fan switches and found that they are rated for 212 degrees F. Does that mean everything is ok on my car, cause even though I never see or hear the auxiliary fan come on, the temp never exceeds this 212 degree point.
