Yes The Piston Is Inside The Fd, But First Try This The C.o. Adjustment Screw Can Be Totally Screwed In, Thus Creating An Overrich Mixture And Flooding, The C O Screw Is Just In Front Of The Fd Viewed From Thr Frond, Take Allen Key Wrench, I Dont Know The Exact Size Know And Screw It Out(counter Clockwise) About 10-15 Turns And Try Again.

Let Me Know And We Can Take It From There

380/420

if you will jump the fuel pump relay so that the pump is running and listen with the hood up you will probably hear the injectors pissing fuel.if you have the long 3mm tool for adjusting the mixture at the fuel distributor[between the fd and the air plate/flap]turn the tool counter clockwise until you hear the injectors shut up,now turn about 1/8th turn more and the car should start.make sure to change oil because it's full of gas by now. david poole european performance dallas tx.

yes bribenz, i have swapped the magnetic pulse generator (the crank sensor) from the 380 and mounted it on the 420 enginge. It had a place to mount it and everything. I just took off the flywheel sensor.

Why did ou not just use the 420's

Patrick, I'm wondering why did ou not just use the 420's FI system? I'm just asking for my own information. That seems like the logical thing to do to me, but I have a lot to learn about such things. Was there a problem with that component?

well i dont think it is a simple swap of electrical, so i am told. I would have if it was that easy. Unless i was fed a bunch of BS by that person. If anyone would know about this it would help immensly. But if i thought it was a straight swap, i would have done it. I think the 420 uses more modern electronis therefore it wouldnt be a straight over "swap". On a 420 you have to worry about the EZL and there are more sensors on the 420 than the 380.

If i am using the 380 intake manifold and Fuel Distributor shouldnt it still work???. The ONLY difference is the size of the block and the distributor. I just dont understand what you are saying, and im swear im listening. But i would think you would need ONLY that 420 comp and timing unit ONLY if i had the 420 injection setup on it. Remember, the car is an '85 380sel. I understand i would need that 420 timing unit and ECU if i had the intake and sensor setup from the 420. All i want to do is make my motor work with my current 380 equipment and sensors. The ONLY thing i have that is from the 420 is the distributor (which shouldnt make a difference it hooks up the same way. All i know is the damn car floods itself the INSTANT u try to crank it. I mean, WHOOSH!!!. Flooded in 2 cranks. It is getting spark. Im about to give up, but i knew there were very knowledgable people here. Please any thoughts or suggestions would help me.
Patrick
You need to do a complete fuel system preasure check first in accordance with the proper MB proceedures for your car. This will require a special preasure gage. Then post your results.

Also before you run this car anymore you should change your oil and filter. Your gas has now contaminated your oil.

i know. Great idea. I think the fuel pressure regulator is really screwed up. This would explain a lot of my problems. Does anyone know if the FPR is built in or part of the fuel distributor??? Yes my FPR is WAY high.

im wondering...is the whole plenum assembley considered the fuel distributor or is the part where the hard lines go to the injectors?? Because this plenum was pushing down and staying collapsed....after i cleaned it, its doing the reverse. I just dont get it.
