temp guage sending unit
 

Hi.
i have an 280 w123 euro 1979, carb model, above the exhuast manifolds and in the head there are two sending units, one larger than the other, one i no must be the sending unit for the tempreture guage, i guess thats the small one. The other one is similar to the thermotime switch i have on my 280se, but why would a carb model have an thermo time switch? Why is there two sending units on this carb fed model.

Many euro cars had EGR even when the USA cars didnt.. that would be a reason for a thermo vacuum valve..

The aux cooling fan has it's own switch as well.
