My car has 173,000 miles, I dont think the timing chain has been replaced yet. Have any of you dont this yourself? I am an average DIYer with average tools. I do not have my CD yet, is this best left to a prof? The car runs great right now and I want to keep it that way.

You can check the stretch of the chain to see if it needs to be replaced. I think 3 degrees stretch is max?

Change it!

If you have close to 200K, I would change it now, why take the chance..
