I'm preparing to change the fuel filter on my '95 C280 (W202 chassis) this weekend along with some other items. I pulled the plastic cover off and found that there are 2, 6-12" fuel hoses that attach to either end of the fuel filter: one from the fuel pump and one to the steel line. These hoses are pretty badly cracked on their outsides, so I'm going to replace them as well.
My question is this: Can anyone tell me specifically what size this fuel hose is? I wasn't sure if this is some oddball european size line or if we're just talking a regular ol' 5/16" ID, 11/32" ID, or 3/8" ID line. I'd like to get the hose in advance so it's all ready to install when I disconnect the existing lines, rather than take it off and drive in town to the auto parts store with the hose in hand and fuel slowly dripping all over the garage floor, if ya know what I mean.
Also, I think I heard once that rubber fuel hose for fuel injection systems needs to be much stronger than standard fuel hose, and thus especially strong hose is available. Can anyone comment on this as well? If this is true, I'd like to confirm.
Thanks again for any help that you gurus can provide to this newbie.
