My 1995 C280 has a bad coolant leak. You could run a hose slowly and the expansion tank would never overflow. I did this and the water dripped quickly from underneath the car on the driver's side. I jacked up the car and did the water test again to try to pinpoint the source, but it seemed to come from where the water pump (?) meets the engine block. This is a guess as the dripping just flows down until it reaches the oil drain plug on the block and then onto my garage floor. I am unsure if I am correctly identifying the water pump but the leak seems to be directly below the forward most set of exhaust headers on the driver's side of the engine bay. The drip seems to also reach where the engine dipstick tube attaches to the engine. The radiator and connecting hoses do not appear to be leaking.
Any advice on what this could be, how to repair it, and approximate cost would be appreciated. I have the Hanes manual if that helps.
Thanks, Matt
