You look like an MB expert --- here is a problem that I am having that has stumped my local dealer --- any thoughts? I posted this today but have not received any input yet. Thanks

The remote door key for my 2003 C230 Coupe can open and close the doors only when the remote is placed close (3 feet) to the driver door. I replaced the key battery but that didn't help. The dealer tried his key and agrees that there must be an antenna problem or something similar. Also, the AM radio seems to have a disconnected antenna. Only strong signals can be received. This problem popped up at the same time as the door problem. Is there a connection between the remote antenna and the AM radio antenna in this model?? Anybody know where the door remote and AM radio antennas are located in this model?

I have a 2000 S430 and at night the dash cluster seems to dim and then come back to normal. Is this a sign that the cluster is failing?

I have a 2000 E430 and the original cluster was replaced in 2003 under warranty for the time and tempreture defective display. About 3 years later the problem re-appeared on the new display. Does Mercedes warranty replaced parts from date of installation? Do I have a chance to go get this replaced?

I have a 95 C-280 with 170k on it. I have had the back lights in the cluster replaced a few years ago and they have burned out again. Also the speedo and tach occasionally get "stuck"....are their any recalls or service campaigns out for this? Having it replaced or even worked on is quite expensive here.

I just purchased a '97 C-230 and the gauges rarely work (tac, rpm, temp & gas) however the time and odometer work fine. should I complain to the NHTSA?

The problem with the W220/C215 clusters IS relating to the backlighting..Not able to see any of the gauges at all.

NO other MB clusters are affected!
