aftermarket sheetmetal??? - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

does anybody know of an aftermarket manufacturer of mercedes sheetmetal parts? looking for a door skin or used door cheap for a 1989 300ce and have had no luck. did a search in parts here with no luck as well. also needed a rear glass and found those quite $$$$. any ideas?

You can find a lot of auto body parts retailers on internet,do a search from yahoo or google...very cheap,I replaced a 240d/300d fender for 70$,it was half lighter then the original rusted part and half inch longer with missing 2-3 bolt holes...Made in India,it did fit with a lot of additional work,usually,the best bet is junkyard from internet,parts are original,aftermarket parts and grills look like kids toys,specially the chrome parts are quite funny.

dont want to step on your toes, but phil is probably closed today and most of the parts you have listed here are for 300e models, not 300ce coupes. i'm not sure the door from a 4 door fits a 2 door. i searched this forum most of the morning through the parts forum , etc. looking for parts specifically for the coupe.

No issue, just FYI, and trying to help.

You are correct; Any W124 door:

* for a TWO door will fit any other W124 two door.

* for a FOUR door will fit any other W124 four door.

I did not have enough time to search in depth for what you need.

the two doors have many parts that they share with the four doors. but doors are unique and so are rear screens.

i have a 123 and a 126 coupe. on my cars such parts are quite expensive. the rear screen for example in my 84 126 is about 1000 new and 400 used. they also tend to fog up on the edge. when i first got it it was beginning to fog on one edge so i bought a good used one and had it changed. four years later it is fogged more than the one i had originally. so that is discouraging.

but if possible repair the door skin. and try to find a used rear screen. you need to find someone parting a two door.

Which door do you need- driver or passenger side?

drivers side. my body man said he would like the skin. i dont know how easy it would be to ship an entire door, i have never seen aftermarket door skins for this car. i have seen fenders nd hoods... not door skins.
