i got lucky today! my 500sec is fixed.

so i had a dead cylinder on my sec. i changed the plugs and that didnt do it. (they were well due). and so i tried to do a compression test on the suspicious cylinder. i got 75#. ouch!

so i sent it to my indie to get a leakdown test.

so my test must have been faulty.

he cleaned one injector and charged me $48.22!

this is my lucky day.

I didn't realize you were having a problem. What symptoms did you have that led you to believe you had poor compression?

i ran a compression test but must have gotten a false reading. my guage is old. i didnt test any other cylinders either, so it must have been my guage or my technique. it runs fine now. will peel out easily even with my hoosier autocross slicks.

Yes, I understand that you ran a compression test and got a false reading. I was wondering what made you go out and do a compression test. Were you trying out a new gauge, or was your car running bad?

Tom,

Glad to hear of your Victory!!! Your Mechanic is a Good man, I would get him a 12-pack of his favorite brew, if he doesn't drink, maybe some good BBQ! You got away for under $50.
You should buy a lottery ticket.
Your Pal...Paolo

Wow, dead injector? So did it all of a sudden die or was it noisy and rough? Did he just soak it in carb cleaner or something?

I didn't know those cars could peel out... with 2.47 gears anyway.. or whatever they pack.
