Chrysler Extended Warranty

I have just been informed, and confirmed with Chrysler, that although you can only buy the Mercedes extended warranty the first year, you can purchase the Chrylser warranty at any time before your basic warranty expires.
The Chrysler warranty has to be bought at a Chrysler dealership (Joy!) but the car can, and must, be serviced at a mercedes dealership.
Anyone heard this?

Are you saying the Chrysler has to be serviced at a MB dealer? Surely not!

Of course not.
But now that you suggested it, I may try to get my Grand Cherokee serviced by my much friendlier MB Dealer.
