He's a MB member sells a LED code reader including instructions on ebay, if you don't want to make it yourself.

Thanks for the advertising - it appears that he built on already.

Anyway - I experienced a no blink when I disconnected the battery for a few days (maybe 20 drive cycles). The diagnostic systems had to re-check everything - the whole time the check engine light is on. I bet you don't have a CEL since you're missing PIN 3. Just a guess though - I'm not very familiar with non-north american cars.
