Talking Proud new member of the 123 club!

Hey dieselheads! Been looking around for an old Mercedes diesel to convert to a grease car.

Stopped by a hoopty buy here and pay here for the rest of your life lot today to check out a couple of 300DT`s they had out front. They were in pretty bad shape, but while I was looking, a guy that worked in the shop came out and said his neighbor had one in much better shape if I was interested.

Of course I was and followed him to his neighbors house where an 84 300DT sat out front. Very good condition with no rust and 178k.

It hasn`t been on the road in a while and needs a good washing. Asked the guy what he wanted for it.....He said $600 and the price of a new battery. Needless to say, I`m picking it up tomorrow. Will post pics when I get it cleaned up. I think I did pretty good on this one.

Thanks! Just got it home and made a pass with the pressure washer. This thing was really dirty. Off to put some fuel in it and maybe some new tires. I`m gonna have a lot of fun with this one!

Whatta deal. Can't beat it with a stick

All that with low miles and no rust? DAMN! Sounds like you got it for about 10% of what it's really worth. By any yardstick, that's a Good Catch! You'll love that one.

Those things really clean up nice don't they?

So far, so good. Did find some small rust around one jackpoint and that`s all. Son in Law and I are going to finish cleaning it tomorrow. Took it for new tires and inspected it while on the lift and it`s really clean considering it`s been sitting for a while. Handles perfectly with the new tires. Been driving it all over NOVA all day and having a blast. Cost for the car with new battery and new tires.....$930. Smile on my face while driving it.....priceless!

That`s on tap for Monday. Put a can of Seafoam in it also.
