Has anyone installed these on a 400E? Their application guide only goes back to 1993, and am wondering if these will fit my 92 400E.
Thanks!

Silver vision bulbs are just orange/amber bulbs that are painted gray. They look gray but illuminate orange and will fit any mercedes with OEM clear corners. If you have orange corners these bulbs will not fit (but with orange corners they wouldn’t be useful at all).
1993 was the year that mercedes started to use clear corners. I saved the money I had to spend on these bulbs and painted some amber bulbs silver myself... greetingz,

Thanks MBenz, will any type paint work? A high temp paint for instance? Just as well paint mine until they burn out.

The original amber/orange bulbs lose their paint after they last a long time, so it actual doesn't matter what paint you use. Whenever the paint will come lose, it will be the amber paint (with silver coating) and not the silver paint only.
I used plain straightforward silver paint spray that can be used to give rims a "newer look". I painted two new bulbs for my car, but you might as well paint the current amber bulbs (as long as the amber paint isn't loose already). greetingz,

I bought some orange bulbs, and dabbed them with chrome paint, which is basically just bright silver paint, very lightly. They glow bright orange as they should when on, but when off they remain silver, and the coating of silver is very light, but dark enough to hide the orange when the lights are off.
Make a huge difference during the day. Alon

Hey MBenz,
That couldn't have been any easier. I bought a small jar of the shiniest silver paint I could find and put a very light coat on the amber bulbs. Viola, looks perfect! Took about 5 minutes tops to do both and they look fine! Thanks again!

What a great idea! That sounds like tomorrow's project. That and an oil change.
I love this forum!

Wow, I never heard of it before. I was kind of wondering about that myself not long ago because my clear corner lights look ugly during the day, you can still see the amber.
Is there any special prep that you guys used? Clean the bulbs with rubbing alcohol first or apply a primer? I am just worried that if I apply too thick of a coat, that the amber wont show when blinking. I am already tired of getting pulled over all the time for speeding, lol. |

I just cleaned them with a little soap and water and applied a light coat. It looks streaky and thin, but is not noticeable through the corner lenses. I started light and kept installing them and turning them on to see if they would blink in "amber". Two light coats and you cannot really see the bulb, the amber is gone and it will still blink amber in color.
