My passenger side will not go all the way up. It stops about an inch from the top. I goes all the way down and up
to that one inch point. Any ideas?

It sounds like the plastic guide has broken or the regulator has failed. The door panel will have to come off and the faulty part replaced.

Or the clip that holds the plastic guide has fallen off. If so look for a channel shaped black piece of rubberized plastic at the bottom of your door well once you have the door panel off. If you do not know how to take the door panel off ask before you try. Otherwise you will almost certainly break it.

Smiles.

I owned an 87 300SDL, which is the diesel version of your car. I eventually replaced 3 of the 4 window regulators...and I thought we used the windows very sparingly.

I think these were the most disappointing failures I had with that car. MB really boned the design of the regulators...I'm sure as a "cost savings".

I had a saab that I beat to heck...15 years and 250kmiles... with power windows, and they always worked. Never had a power window failure.

I love MBs, but not anything newer than 85. Yes...I know..I'm obsolete.

Good luck..

Yep... I had to replace two on my rear doors. Former owner neglected repairs. That's why I think the problem may be the clip that holds the cable to the frame. If its not in place it allows the white rectangular plastic piece to shift inside it's metal mount and in turn restricts the movement of the window.
