euro headlights
I have 1990 MB 300se (W126) in US. It has those ugly plastic North American style headlights and I want to upgrade to a euro style. To make it cheaper I would buy only euro glass and glue it on american headlights instead of plastic. But I'm not sure if it will fit. Does anybody know? Thanks alot!

Welcome to the forum.
You won't be glueing any glass onto the DOT lamps, that's for sure. The option is to convert to Euro lamps and eliminate the plastic completely. The costs are variable from about $600. for brand new Bosch to $150 or so from a parts car with the associated deterioration of the lenses. I went in the middle of the pack for the '86 and got a set from these folks.........$205. and they come with the clear corners: http://www.importvision.com/index.php?display=show_part.php&PartMake=Mercedes&select_PartType=Headlights |

Thank you. Could you please tell me, why can't I just replace plastic with glass on DOT lamps? How is it different from euro lamps? Is it different by shape, dimensions or something else? I'm looking everywhere, but i still can't get an answer to that. On one of the forums I read that one guy did that with his w124 and it all fit, so I thought that it should work on w126 also.

while it may fit and look ok cosmetically. its never going to seal up enough to keep moisture out. the headlmap beam is a single housing while the fog is covered by the plastic surround lens.
