Greetings,
I removed the head and there is a ton of carbon buildup on the valves, heads and pistons. There is also excessive wear on the cam and a couple of the rockers. I will replace the necessary parts. Question for today is how do I remove the valve springs. I have a spring compressor and I got it on and tightened the springs up so there was play in them but I couldn't get it off the top of the valve. It wouldn't slide down to release the split keepers. Any suggestions are appreciated. This project is going well with the help of you guys. (knock on wood) Thanks, Kyle |
Not to insult your intelligence but, is the spring compressor you using clamp to the valve face to support the valve?

Chowpit,
Please, I need all the help I can get. This is a new project for me. I will not be offended. I would be more embarassed if I screwed something up badly. To answer your question, no. I suppose that is the problem then. I will try it and let you know how I made out. Thanks, Kyle |
