Silly question.
I feel weird asking this but I tried manually shifting my benz ( automatic) 92 s 600 into the lowest gears (b-2) and I can only get the car to go from drive to 3rd. Am I doing something wrong? I cant figure out why it wont go there??? Any ideas?

Maybe a linkage problem. Have you checked out your shifter bushings?

No i havent done anything i just got this car under 2 weeks ago. It doesnt seem to go into b or 2 no matter what I do. Is there suppose to be a trick or a certain way to get it to go in that gear?

I don't think your car starts out in first gear, and you have to do the hokey pokey with the gear selector when stopped to make it start out in first.
I don't think your car will downshift into second gear unless you are going slow enough anyway, and I don't think you can downshift it into first gear even if you tried.

Your car probably starts in second gear - they tended to do that in that era on cars with lots of torque. But as I understand it your question has to do with manual shifting, and that it operates normally when you put it in drive. If it in fact is operating normally when in drive but won't manually downshift to 2 or B (B stands for braking but it's actually just first gear) there's probably nothing wrong with the transmission itself - only the gear shift or linkage. Failed shifter bushings is a common problem. If you do a search above you find many threads on the subject. The linkage from the gear shift knob to the transmission has two bushings where the rods connect and when they disintegrate all kinds of strange things happen. The bushings themselves are cheap but the job is very tight and something of a nuissance. That's where I would start. The other possibility is that someone has dropped something down the shifter and it is somehow obstructed. It definitely should shift to both 2 and B.
