1995 E 320

I got 95k miles on my 1995 E320 and so far I have been changing the oil with the regular 10-30 Motor oil . Is it a good idea to change it to a different grade like synthetic motor oil considering the milage it has ?

Mike

Depends on where you live, how you drive, what kind of driving, and how far apart the oil change intervals were.

I would lean slightly against changing to synth, but 95k isn't too terrible, unless you changed the oil every 10k, and used it as a taxi cab in Miami.

I have never verified this myself, but I've read that switching to synth in older cars might introduce leaks in places where leaks previously didn't occur. The smaller molecular structure of synthetic may allow oil to seep past old seals that dino oil wouldn't penetrate.

Otherwise, there shouldn't be a problem. If you change oil frequently however, I wouldn't waste the extra expense...

With the notorious 104 engine oil leaks from the rear head gasket and front cover , why chance it ????
