Bolt patterns.. M110 engine, 240D transmission?

Greetings all, and thank you for this very useful website.

We for years drove a '77 280SE , which was parked due to the complete lack of climate control + too many expensive repairs. I only wish that I knew then what I know now about mechanical things, it wouldn't have happened.

I have a 1982 240D which I bought for $300. It ran and drove and had no brakes. I bought all the brake parts... and then a 250 year old white oak fell and squashed the front end! At least it fell that way, it would have either killed us or our neighbors if anything happened differently.

I have a '28 dodge 'doodlebug' I like to play arond with. I was thinking of upgrading its motorvation.

Would the engine in the '77 (it has an automatic) mate up with the 4-speed manual in the 240d? I LOVE the M110 engine. So torquey, and a great sound too.

The non-drivetrain parts in each will be for sale, but when I figure out what is worthwhile I'll post separately. I AM taking requests...

Thank you all in advance!!

Jeremiah
