I just installed Euro Headlights On my car. WOW! what a difference. I have a question though what is the small connector that fights just underneath the headlight bulb and goes through the reflector. Is this for another bulb or something? Also what is the best bulb I can put in these lights?

Dave:
The small extra connector is for a 7 watt 'City bulb' - the European equivalent of daytime running lights. The best H4 bulbs in standard wattage (don't go over wattage bulbs without relays and heavier wire!) available in the US are the Hella +30 or Phillips Premium (same as plus 30) which increase light output without increasing wattage through a redesigned filament. Also available from Europe (haven't tried them) are either Philips Vision Plus or Osram Silver Star H4 bulbs with a claimed 50% greater output from the standard wattage. I haven't tried these yet (I am running +30s which do make a difference), but plan on ordering them from:

JCE be careful of Fosmo. They screwed up my order and its been almost 5 months and I have not recieved anything. I have complained to them and still recieved nothing. Its not worth me pursuing with my credit card so the matter is over and I am out $20. Just be careful.

Thanks for the heads up! I haven't ordered from them yet (and may not after your warning). They are the only source I have found so far for these bulbs, which Philips says are only for Europe at present. I have been increasingly reluctant to order from overseas since I read a financial article about how some web based companies on international orders created 'delays' while they played currency arbitrage games - waiting for an exchange rate that maximized their profits!

The currency manipulation makes sense. Everytime I talked to them they kept saying something about a delay blah blah. I have ordered a set of silver visions bulbs from them in the past and that came through to me fine. But this second order was for a set of premium bulbs which are obviously a little more expensive and I got screwed.
I did manage to find blue vision philips bulbs at Kmart which was suprising. I think the +30 bulbs are ready for us, there is just a huge delay with the DOT in getting them approved for import for us to use. Oh well, if you do give it a shot with Fosmo let us know how it went.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

those are for the front "parking" light bulbs.

in the european version, the main lamp reflector is also used for parking-light use, using a low-wattage bulb (that is why that bulb goes through the main reflector).

This is as against the North American practice of using the indicator lights for "parking" light use, which therefore have 3 connectors each. The Euro indicator lamps on the other hand, have only 2 connectors each, although you can reuse the stock 3-connector bulb carrier with it.

i don't use the headlamp-mounted parking lights on my Euro lights, and am using the indicator lamps for this purpose, as before. This is so you can easily be seen on the side as well if you only have your parking lights on.

Hi

I just received my H4 Osram Super (30% more light) from Fosmo today. It took them 10 days from England to Malaysia.

The Osram Super is currently on sale at Fosmo, only 5.00 Sterling per piece.

I received my Phillips Vision Plus lights today from Fosmo, 10 days from England to Iowa. Not bad, I also received my euro lights and another set of Bosch clear side markers and my painted filler panels.

Euro lights here I come!
