Behr radiators for various Mercedes models, like the W201 and W124, have plastic necks. However, I have found that there's a connection between the plastic neck failures and failed motor mounts that allow engine vibration to be telegraphed through the radiator hoses, not the coolant.

I wonder if the change to blue coolant also prompted the demise of ATE's Blue Racing Brake Fluid, due to the risk of consumer's mixing it up with windshield cleaning fluid, coolant, grape juice, huckleberry syrup . . .

I'm considering putting Evans waterless coolant +C into the benzes. On the 300D, I flushed it four times thoroughly using a Prestone back flush kit plus Shout Advanced Laundry stain remover and there was STILL rust in the system. I'm hoping the Evans coolant cures this problem and lowers the operating temperature of the engine.

On another note, I've run across someone who installs a new radiator in his car once every six years whether it needs it or not. He seems to think that radiators are a "wear" item and need regular replacement.

Most of the time when I speak with people about mechanical failures which result in their car becoming inoperable it is usually due to cooling system failure.

I use the Evans princible,by using cheaper sierra coolant at 100%.Same protection and poly gycol.Been running it since 2009. In both diesel and gas engine.
