Smog Check Report for C.A.- W124 300CE

Well I just want to post that my 1988 300CE finally passed smog. here are the results. (I replaced the 02 Sensor, Motor Oil, Filter, Throttle Linkage rebuilt, Ernst/Mercedes Center Resonator/Muffler, new Exhaust pipe to rear original muffler, clean plugs, good throttle around 525-540 at idle when warm, etc)

15 mph@2503 rpm: %C02:14.90, %02:0.15, HC(PPM):108(Max.110, Avg. 31)
C0%:0.22(Max. 0.71, Avg. 0.10), NO(PPM):0379(Max. 772, Avg. 237)

25 mph@1694 rpm: %C02:14.99, %02:0.09, HC(PPM):61(Max.85, Avg.20), C0%:0.10(Max.0.59, Avg.0.09), NO(PPM):0121(Max.711, Avg.199)

= PASS! PASS!

What can I do to get the levels even lower?

Thanks for everything.

Now I'm looking for upgrade headlamps, struts, shocks, LCA bushings, Transmission mount.

Regards,
Jason

My uncle owns a smog tech shop, he has a tech who works for hims and a guy who assists the tech. I was able to get a number of free checks without getting logged into the system. Then when I was confident the machine would not throw me off I had them run a test. It's a test only station. My uncle is actually my wife's uncle-in-law, he married her favorite Aunt. He also owns a mechanics garage and keeps a dealer license so he can buy MBZ and BMWs from the auctions. It's all side work for him actually so he really only takes orders for the top-line super expensive models.

One of the fuel hoses at the pumps has a leak. Once I replace that it may help correct the ratio. I think cleaning out the tank and screen and replacing the filter will help. I also have an air leak up front, it takes a while for the motor to warm up and idle to drop down if in park or neutral.

The tune-up is definitely on the list, and the techron run through too. I have been using Techron Chevron Supreme fuel for months, I think it's helped clean the injectors and is keeping the plugs from fouling but there is fuel in the oil. Perhaps this is affecting. I was told the gaket and valve job was done but I have no record of it. The motor and trans leak oil. The trans mount is toast from motor oil leaking on it. I'll clean the bay and maybe start on some of the gaskets and seals once I know which ones are gone.

Regards,
Jason
